Smoke Testing for Sanitary Sewers

Smoke Testing for Sanitary Sewers: January 18 - 25, 2021 (weather dependent)
Fishbeck Engineering has been contracted by the City of Grand Ledge to perform smoke testing on select areas of the City's sewer lines. Fishbeck Engineering will notify the building owners and residents who may be potentially impacted by placing informational door hangers at each address more than 48-hours before the test will begin. In addition, the Grand Ledge Police Department and the Grand Ledge Area Emergency Services Authority will be informed of the smoke testing locations. During smoke testing, field crews blow air and smoke into the sanitary sewer system through manholes in the street to monitor where the smoke escapes the system. The smoke will fill the mainline and any lateral connections and then follow the path of any leak to the ground surface, quickly revealing any problems. If you have any doubt as to the source of the smoke in your home or yard, call 911 immediately. A map of the locations to be smoke tested during this time can be found here.
